June has seemed like a crazy month. I'm not even sure why exactly because it felt both fast and slow, but all I know is we're finally at the end and I'm doing my wrap-up!
I was actually on track to read a bit more than usual, but instead I've ended up overloading myself with other things that sort of waylaid that. For instance, every year I like to try to tackle at least one super intimidating book on my shelf (i.e. War and Peace, Infinite Jest, etc.), and this year I chose Alan Moore's Jerusalem. This monster clocks at a totally not terrifying 1,280 pages (and wow is it heavy). I've scheduled it so I'm basically reading a general numbers of pages a day so I'll read it from June-August. It's a dense book, so even less than twenty pages a day is taking its time, but I've found that taking it slowly is the best way for me to tackle books like these that I would otherwise probably get discouraged reading.
The second thing taking up reading time is my participation in r/fantasy's Kushiel's Dart read-along, which is about eight chapters a week. It's not too much, but it's still something.
Lastly, I'm beta reading for someone's fantasy novel, which is really exciting! I'm having such a great time doing it and I'm so glad I agreed to take part in it. That being said, none of these on their own are a lot, but all of those together plus the fact that I'm still reading my own regular books... I think I might've bit off more than I can chew. Of course, I could easily just not do one or two or these and be sane, but why on earth would I ever make things easy for myself? So far I'm managing to keep up somehow, but we'll see how it goes.
Anyway, rambling aside, I hope everyone has had a productive month and that you all have a wonderful July!
As I've mentioned before, I'm also a Book Depository Affiliate and an Amazon affiliate! If you'd like to know more about that, I included some info about in this post.
